Dear 7th graders and Parents, 

The 7th grade team is excited to announce a once-in-a-lifetime field trip to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, May 28 – May 30, 2019! We plan to depart early morning May 28thtouring all day May 29th and 30th , returning to DMS late evening May 30th.   The price of this trip will is $500.00 for both students and chaperones. This price includes ALL attractions, hotel, and evening security at the hotel, meals (excluding a fast food breakfast on the first morning), and deluxe Motor Coach Transportation!

 Attractions we will have the privilege of experiencing:

  • Smithsonian Museums
  • National Archives tour
  • Arlington National Cemetery
  • Capitol Visitors’ Center
  • The White House (picture stop)
  • Supreme Court
  • Library of Congress
  • Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum
  • The Reagan Center for lunch
  • Lincoln, Jefferson, and FDR Memorials
  • Vietnam War, Korean War, and WWII Memorials

Our accommodations will be nearby the city where students will be grouped four to a room. The hotel features a safe indoor corridor.  A security guard will be on post all night to maintain watch over our rooms. 

Payments for this trip can be taken monthly or paid at one time.  We will accept payments from September-March.  Please turn in all monies to Mrs. Keith. Make checks payable to DMS. If parent interest allows, we will have fundraisers throughout the school year to offset costs. Please plan to participate in these and support them as best you can. If any families would like to sponsor a child or donate additional funds that would be greatly appreciated as well. Please contact a 7th grade teacher to let us know.

We welcome parent chaperones! Any parents/guardians interested in chaperoning, please notify us as soon as possible! We need males and females! There is a training all chaperones will have to complete prior to the trip.  It is important that all chaperones have a current SLED check on file with our school, and have participated in volunteer training this academic year.  Please know that there is a SUBSTANTIAL amount of walking involved in this trip.  The touring days are exciting, but rigorous. 

Any student who receives 3 or more office referrals this academic year will NOT be allowed to participate. No refunds will be given. Dacusville community and schools will be represented positively in our Nation’s capital.
