Field Study

As we announced several weeks ago, January 19 is a Remote Learning Day for our students. The information below provides directions for what students in grades 6-12 will be doing that day.

During this time in a typical year, our middle and high school students go on field trips to our Pickens County Career & Technology Center (PCCTC) and to local colleges and universities. Our students aren’t able to take these field trips because of COVID-19, but they still need to be able to explore college and career optionsThankfully, the PCCTC and the higher education institutions within Pickens County developed a creative virtual solution.

On January 19, students in grades 6-12 will participate in a Virtual College & Career Field Study. Using a website we have developed, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and opportunities that exist in our county as they make plans for future college and career options.

Student participation in this field study will take the place of teacher-assigned remote learning activities. Students will complete an activity (which will serve as a verification of participation) that is due by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021. Participation is required for students to be counted present for the school day.

Students will have a choice of virtual field studies of the following schools: Clemson University, Southern Wesleyan University, Tri-County Technical College, and the Pickens County Career & Technology Center. Students will find more information about the expectations for the day at our Virtual College & Career Field Study website, which will be ready on January 19.
